This escape adventure explores the wonderful world of animals. Students must work through the included puzzles, which will lead them to reveal four-number or five-letter combinations. These combinations will open corresponding locks, helping them to move on to the next puzzle. We’ve included six puzzles in this escape adventure, which can be presented all at once in a single escape or can be broken up and implemented as supplementary exercises. This puzzle was designed for 3rd-5th grade students.
BACKSTORY
Zane the Zookeeper is a very busy zookeeper. He forgot that several new animals were being sent to his zoo today. Zane needs to figure out the names and special needs each animal has before they all arrive. Different animals may need different environments to keep them healthy and happy. Help Zane learn more about these magnificent creatures in the next 60 minutes to save the day!
SUGGESTED TIME
We suggest 60 minutes for this escape adventure. This should be amended according to your classroom needs. These puzzles may also be broken up into shorter activities. However, some puzzles may take longer than others.
MATERIALS NEEDED
The materials in this packet need to be printed out. Some materials may require
some cutting. In addition to the print-out materials included in this escape adventure packet, some puzzles may require additional materials.
The entire escape adventure requires six locks in total. Five of these should be four-
digit number locks, while one should be a five-letter word lock.
One puzzle requires requires a blacklight flashlight for the students to use and a blacklight marker for puzzle preparation.
If presented all at once as a single event, this escape adventure will require a multi-lock solution. Either six Breakout Bags can be furnished for students to use, or a multi-lock hasp can be used to include several locks on a single bag.
